USA's first platinum rated water pipeline will have the World's Largest Valves Installed

The Integrated Pipeline Project (IPL) that involves the construction of a 150 mile long water pipeline extending and integrating from multiple lakes in Texas, was awarded an Envision Platinum award. It is the 1st water transmission project to receive a platinum award in North America.

The project which is being built and managed by two North Texas water suppliers, The Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) and the City of Dallas was presented Envision's highest level of achievement award by Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI).

The 2 billion dollar Integrated Pipeline Project (IPL) will enable the water authorities to increase the water supply drastically by 350 million gallons per day (1.59 billion litres per day) meeting the ever increasing demand of rapidly growing population of this region in the long term. The award is based on the evaluation of Quality, Leadership, Resource Allocation, Natural World, Climate and Risk

The World's Largest Valves

Weighing at 100 tons and standing a majestic 40 feett tall, Blackhall's AWWA C-500 108" Zero-Leakage Metal Seated Parallel Faced Gate Valve has been designed to last for 100 years. The specifications of these magnificent valves were stated by some of the USA's top consulting engineering firms like AECOM, CDM Smith, Black & Veatch and Freese & Nichols. It was Blackhall's proven track record of manufacturing 100 year asset life valves that matched perfectly with TRWD's 100 year sustainability promise on the IPL project.

The gate valve which is the World's largest valve of its kind in terms of weight and size, successfully passed all hydraulic tests (Shell Strength at 375psig and Seating Capability tested at 250 psig) and was recently installed into the mega pipeline.

Five further valves are currently in production for this mammoth pipeline scheme, designed in the UK and manufactured in USA.
